Piece of cake, I said?

Gather round ladies and gents - If I may, let me share my thoughts on physical therapy with you.

After a visit with the doctor, he ordered a one hour session twice a week. I thought "That's all? I can do that!"

Then he pulled out a piece of paper and told me it was my homework. It was a sheet of paper that had diagrams of some exercises he wanted me to do at home until the PT center had my sessions schedules. There were several exercises to do. Some were designed...

Queen of England in a small town Police Dept.

Early 1980's
When I was living in a small town in south Texas, we had some people who would call in to the police department late at night just to talk to someone. If we weren't busy, we'd take the time to talk to them for a little while. Some we came to know on a personal basis (small towns are like that), some were just voices on the telephone.

So picture this -
Late one night at a small town police department - midnight shift - not a lot going on during the week - one...

'Gotcha!' day

Posted 06-07-2013 at 10:10 AM by LilyLady
Updated 06-07-2013 at 11:04 AM by LilyLady (Seems that I can't count today. It's been 6 years, not 7.)

Six years ago today, on the corner of the street where we lived, someone abandoned a white dog who had recently had puppies. It was pouring down rain. That dog stayed at that corner all afternoon and overnight. She stayed out in the rain waiting for her 'person' to come back and get her. It was so hard to watch.

The next morning, she was still there. She was laying flat in the grass. My husband and I thought she had died. I asked my son to please go and check on her. As he walked up...

Race Day June 24, 2012

Posted 04-06-2013 at 03:16 PM by LilyLady

For his birthday, my daughter gave my husband a race day package. We made the appointment and his race time was set for 2:00pm June 24, 2012.

It was, to use DH's words, "a blast". (Yeah, okay. Maybe.)

The track was located in Hampton, Virginia. To get there, we headed north/west on IH 64. That route required us to drive through the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. Actually, we really can't drive much of anywhere without going through a tunnel or a bridge/tunnel...

A few years ago, when I was just 48 years old, I lived out in the desert area of far west Texas. Just north of where I lived was the beautiful, yet rugged, Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

When I'd get days off from work, I'd pack a few things, get in my car and make the 70-mile drive to the park to hike some of the mountain trails.

The signature peak of the Guadalupe Mountains is called El Capitan. ...
