    Bolt Of Lightning Kills Golfer

    May 25, 1908
    St. Louis, Mo. W.H. Howard, a wealthy commission merchant, was killed by lightning during a rain storm that swept over St. Louis. Mr. Howard was a member of the Glen Echo Golf Club and sought shelter under a tree on the course when lightning struck the tree and killed him instantly.
