This started as my travel log. (We've been traveling the USA from Seattle, WA since Labor Day '08.) My husband has a great website showing the highlights and his commentaries on the places we've been and the things we've done. (View via my profile home page.)
I found that while discovering the country, I was also finding myself. I am learning what to keep, and what to drop -- or chisel away. I don't mind sharing; maybe you will learn something from my lessons, too.
Then came Bigun, my Cocker-Beagle, my newest guru. He's got his own category in the Blog, and an album on my profile.
You are welcome to what I have, good and bad, and leave messages as you like, but please be kind. I, too, am still "in training."

Dog's Day in the Sun

Keeping up with Bigun's exercise needs -- now up to five miles a day, is wearing on these 53 year old knees. We've tried to find him a dog park, and finally succeeded yesterday in Kansas City.
The dog park was a bust. An aggressive boxer that started five fights with smaller dogs in the half hour we were there put us off, and seemed to raise the assertiveness of the other dogs in the park. (Isn't there so often one that has to ruin things?)
Anyway, we took him back to the (empty) small dog section, and there played fetch with him, off lead. That alone was treat enough for him, and increased our confidence in his willingness to come when called.
Before the park, however, he met Lenny, a HUGH Black Lab in the Plaza District, near the Kemper Museum of Art. We were a little concern when Lenny approached Bigun, but within minutes they were rolling in the grass together. (More pics of them in my profile Bigun album.)
All in all, it was a great day for our little Bigun, and for us.
