My daughter lives in California. She has a legal drivers license, a legal license to transport and use medical marijuana, and a legal prescription to purchase that she carries at all times. I see how it helps her pain and I smile. I have to admit the affects are quite remarkable and that is reason enough to support it. Even more amazing is the 100 different ways that it can be dispensed - from smoke to brownies.
Outside of the proven benefits the weed gives medical patients, the number two reason I support it is the tax dollars it returns. In California this drug is as tightly controlled as any other narcotic drug that is dispensed in America. First of all not every pharmacy and head shop can dispense it as it requires a special license. Secondly the dspensing agency is thoroughly investigated before a license is issued and closly scrutinized thereafter. Third, the sale of week is taxed just as beer, soda pop and wine are taxed.
I watched an interview with the owner of a legal Californaia marijuana dispensary on cable one night. The owner stated in the past he paid $600.000 dollars in Federal income tax, plus more than $300,000 in state income tax. Money not only strength ens a weakened economy, it makes a very case to legalize marijuana for medical use.
Although I am absolutely opposed to any and all recreational use, I soundly support the sale of marijuana for medical use only. .
