Shades of the '70s

I never believed that Charlotte would be subject to a near complete loss of gasoline & yet it has been our current state of affairs for the past ten days. Other parts of the country are experiencing adequate supplies of gasoline & we are waiting in long lines or driving around aimlessly, hoping to find a station with fuel or at least one with a tanker in its presence.

I'd been able to weather this crisis with almost no interruption till the station that I was using ran out of race fuel. Now I've had to join the rest of the gas hunters circling the city, all of us searching for an elusive quarry.

Fortunately, I suppose, my VW blew out its catalytic converter. While it will be an expensive repair it does allow me to drive our most fuel efficient car our Chevrolet Corvette.

We had cut unnecessary trips out of our lives a number of years ago. And the trips that we do make are grouped together & are local. Most shopping is done online & we live close to retail stores for items like groceries & gas.

We have invested in our home to make it a place that we are comfortable in, not a place to simply hang our hats. We actually grew corn this year as well as a watermelon in our backyard!
