help!! nosey landlord!

i live in new jersey, and have been renting an apartment for close to 4 years. In the 4 years I have lived here, my landlady has gotten increasingly nosey(mostly since her husband has died.)
Coincidently, our landlady is also our neighbor. She does not(very often) try to come inside our apartment..
she does go through our garbage, however. We pay our own garbage- but she's always commenting on how much, or little garbage we have. she also complains if we leave our own lights on.....and about the fact that we took the vanician blinds down and instead put up roman shades (because it wastes heat..)
i feel horribly because i've recently verbally told her these things...and that it's rediculous and against my own privacy rights. she began crying.....hysterically. i felt horrible! shes got to be around 80, and i made her cry!
i don't want to move out...im pregnant, on bed rest and cant exactly find a place to live, pack, etc right now.
but i cant deal with this....the stress is beyond what i can cope with right now.
any advice?

I think you should just hang in there and try and keep peace, you know she is 80 and lost husband, maybe she is lonely and maybe when the baby comes you can invite her in to meet him or her,you never know, she could turn out to be a loving extended member of your family.wish you well.
