Moving From the bay area to the beautiful state of Oregon!

Posted 10-15-2008 at 03:50 PM by Oregon_Dreamer

Hello Everyone,

My husband and I are planning to move to Oregon. We have lived in the Bay Area all our lives. However, the astronomical prices for cost of living is a huge reason why we have decided to move. We love the relaxed atmosphere and the unbelievable beauty that is Oregon. My husband and I are both full time students. (Criminal Justice & Nursing Major ) My husband and myself are both fairly young in our early 20's and wanted a place to grow in. The most important things we would like to know is:

A. Cost of living, for the time being we are going to rent. We wanted to know an estimation on rent,food,i.e. In addition, we wanted a city/town that has nationally known stores. EX: Target, movie theaters, restaurants, shopping centers, ect...

B. Which would be the best city to settle down in. My husband and I have no children at the moment but would love to start a family soon, and wanted to know the best area that is very family orientated.
EX: Schools, community, crime rate, and cost for homes.

C. Job location, we would need to find a place that has our profession.

D. I am in love with the fall and winter seasons, which areas has the best weather? Preferably, a city that has as close to four seasons as possible.

I do realize that I wont be able to get everything on my wish list. :D We have been looking at several locations: Corvallis, Astoria, La Pine, Lake Oswego ect...

Please, Please, Please any input is GREAT input. We truly appreciate anyone who takes the time in helping us on our search. If there is any other towns/cities that are close to our requirements please let us know.

Thanks again,

Oregon Bound

Try Astoria. The coastal weather can be tuff, cold wet, and little sun shine, but there's something about the place that grows on you. I'm moving back their in a few months, cant wait.
