Gainesville Georgia

I want to leave Columbus GA for a million different reasons. I know that Gainesville has some issues...chicken plants, funny smells etc. However, for someone of low income, would it be that bad considering where I will be leaving from? Any suggestions aprreciated. I am 51, so have no children in school; also I am physically disabled, degenerative disease, but can still get around with a cane some.

Hello Ellie,
I have lived in Gainesville since 1985...I have not moved yet...I have enjoy it here because of my friends, the weather and great employment. But now the economy is tough everywhere including Gainesville. I would secure my economic status and research how costly the move will be and secure your income before the move. Also as you are disabled be sure where you move has handicap friendly transit. Gainesville does not have much in community transit or supportive walking communities. A larger city may often more community transportation and mobility options. Other areas to consider are smaller city retirement areas (if you do not have to work) that provide a variety of transporation options.Posted 11-29-2008 at 06:42 AM by gumdrop123 -
Thanks for the replies
Thanks for the advice. You are right about the transportation thing too. Something I thought about, but didn't want to. I am just so eager to leave Columbus. It will not let go of me though. I have had a string of bad luck trying to get our of here. Yes, it does take a lot of money and investigation to move. There are few if no places for someone like me to move here in Columbus. I also have a lot of bad memories here. I have been here off and on since '62. Oh, well, back to the drawing board.Posted 11-29-2008 at 10:07 AM by ellen bonnie horn
