Matthew 27:1-10, Judas Kills Himself

Posted 04-28-2011 at 03:00 AM by Godistheelight

[3] Judas, the one whod had given Jesus to his enemies, saw that they had decided to kill Jesus. Then he was very sorry for what he had done. So he took the thirty silver coins back to the priests and the leaders, [4] saying, "I sinned; I handed over to you an innocent man."
The leaders answered, "What is that to us? Thats your problem not ours."

Stop And Think:
Q. What is going on here?
A. Judas is one of Jesus disciples, so like one of his best friends. In this passage Judas has deceived Jesus; he has turned him into the roman guards to take back Pilate (the governor). Then he's all like, "Whoa whoa whoa man...this isn't right! Jesus is innocent! He didn't do anything wrong!! What was i thinking?!" :smack: But the leaders answered "What is that to us? Thats not our problem, it's yours, you fix it!"

Lets Read On.

[5] So Judas threw the money into the Temple. Then he went off and hanged himself. [6] The leading priests picked up the silver coins in the Temple and said, "Our law does no allow us to keep this money with the Temple money, because it has paid for a man's death." [7] So they decided to use the coins to buy Potter's Field as a place to bury strangers who died i Jerusalem. [8] That is why that field is still called the Field of Blood.

Stop And Think:
5-8 talks about Judas throwing the money in the Temple and leaving basically without a word and hangs himself! He hung himself because he led Jesus to death, he basically took him by the hand and said, "Come on Jesus lets go get you killed!"
Ask Yourself:
Q.If Jesus knows everything God knows then he would have stopped Judas in is tracks right?
A.No. Jesus knew what he had to do. He knew from the very start, as a child he knew that he had to be nailed to the cross, he knew he had to wear a crown of thorns to save us. And so he did.

Read On.

[9] So what Jeremiah the prophet had said came true: "They took thirty silver coins. Thats how little the Israelites thought he was worth. [10] They used those thirty silver coins to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."

Stop And Think:
In 9 and 10 it says "So what Jeremiah the prophet had said came true". It came true! Sit on that for a minute and think, wouldn't that be the coolest thing in the entire world to predict stuff like that? Anyway, if you read further it says, "Thats how little the Israelites thought he was worth." One word for that: WOW. The Israelites thought he was only worth thirty silver coins. Thirty coins! So basically thirty dimes...whats that like 300 cents? So around three bucks. Really? Our God and savior is only worth three dollars?! That is disappointing.
Really, He is worth more then all the money in the world! But guess what they did with that money, since they couldn't put it in with the Temple's money, the Israelites bought the potter's field, as the Lord had commanded them to! Yes that is right they had been following the Lord's commands! Should not they be our example? Follow the Lord, our God's commands! :)

Ask Yourself:
Q. Why do you think God sent his only son for us? Why would he care about us? Explain. Leave answers as a reply!!!!

God Bless :)
