Moving to Jville in March...

Posted 12-14-2008 at 03:43 PM by Twink_24

Hello!
I'm moving to Jacksonville to be with my new marine hubby in March and I'm concerned about where we will be living. He suggested we try living on base, possibly at High Point, but I'm not sure about the "wait time" and such. I've looked at several apartments in the area, some outside of Jville and I'm not convinced I'll be getting what I pay for.

Currently I live in Texas and he will be returning to the states in late Feb. Any suggestions for housing, on and off base??

Also, he's currently working at New River, so it will have to be within a half hours drive.

Thanks and God Bless,

Danielle

    Apartments in J'ville

Hi Daniella, I'm not sure where New River is located, never heard of it, but I live on the Southside of Jacksonville, off Southside Blvd in Baymeadows, in my opinion and a few others that I've heard, the North side may be cheaper, but more crime ridden, also the west side can be cheaper but has it's fair share of crime depending on how far over you go, I would say apartments off southside blvd which is a long stretch of apartments would be a safe start. Pick up an apartment guide and start from there. Maybe you can get a 6 or 7 month lease then check out the overall Jacksonville area and you can always relocate to another area. Apartments in Orange Park are reasonable as well, maybe a little cheaper than the southside area, somewhat on the west side, but not in the high crime area. Good Luck. Shela
