Moving to Sacramento area

My partner and I will be moving from Tahoe to the Sac area and we're looking for somewhere between Sac and Rocklin (we'll both be working in Rocklin). I'm not quite sure Rocklin is the place to settle as of yet - and we're trying to stay away from a commute. I here great things about gay-friendly communities in Land Park, Davis, etc, but we were looking for something a little further east. Any ideas are welcome!! Thanks!
