End of Week 1

Yesterday ended my first week of being unemployed. The few days were pretty anxious, but by Monday morning I was driven to action and spent Monday and Tuesday cleaning house and looking for work. With so much accomplished, I felt comfortable taking yesterday off.
The day was gloriously bright and brisk, with a breeze. Bigun usually has his nose stuck to the ground throughout our walk, unless he's marking territory, but with the breeze blowing his nose was held high and he pranced. With the sun glistening off his shiny black coat, and his ears and tail waving like his own flags, he was a sight to behold. What a dog.
When we got an unexpected call from a friend from Wisconsin, in town on business, I was sure glad I cleaned house. And thank goodness I'd put a whole chicken in the crock pot that morning, and popped two big baking potatoes (halved) on top of the bird at lunch time, because we had to have him join us for dinner.
With a side of microwaved carrots & brussel sprouts, and the fresh strawberries he brought for dessert -- which I topped with my own concoction of spun honey, maple syrup, cinnamon and plain yogurt, we feasted.
Hearing what was up with him and his family, wiped out all feelings of unease I'd had about not working. Isn't it funny how when we put our attentions to others, we forget about ourselves? I think that's a good lesson for me.
So, week one was a success, overall. And here we go into week two.
