Gay n Thinking about moving to Boston from West Palm Beach, FL

I've been cosidering a temporary move to Boston for a year or so to further my education. I need to work and commute to N. Hampton. My guess would be to live in Boston and commute; any advice? What's the gay community like there, job opportunity, housing?
