LOCALS PLEASE HELP - Best Cities Outside of Charlotte?
Hello,
My husband and I are most likely being transferred to Charlotte, NC by April 2014. We are from Texas, and currently live in Keller.. It is an ideal area to live to raise a family (we have no kids yet , but are going to within the next 2-4 years, and would like to be in a great area to do so). We are 28 years old, husband currently works for Microsoft (roughly $80k/year. I am an exec admin (making 70k/year – with bonus and over time – base is 45k). Keller (near Fort Worth, TX) has so much to offer: beautiful housing communities w/ large/multiple resort style pools, good schools, safe area etc. We also have the TX State Fair, two amazing zoos, aquariums, museums, Fort Worth Water gardens, art festivals, Cowboys stadium, ranger games (baseball), Galleria Mall (shopping), restaurants etc. all close by (30-40 minutes away).
We would like to live in an area that has very low crime, a somewhat small town feel (southern living), friendly people (young families and older is what we like) middle to upper middle class and beyond. We’ve seen some amazing homes for up to 200k, and are wondering what cities are the best for us. I have done some research, and would like some input on best cities outside of Chartlotte. I’m possibly interested in:
Concord
Gastonia
Huntersville
Mooresville
And if you know of any that I haven’t listed, please let me know.
*One thing that I despise about Texas is the animal "abuse/neglect". Its very often I see dogs on the highway, side roads etc. (Lost, abandoned, etc.) Also, people leave their dogs out back 24/7 (in rain, heat, cold etc.) Which I do not stand for. It breaks my heart and needless to say, we have rescued ALL of them! :0) I would LOVE to live in an area that I would not run across ANY of this! (or at least not very often at all)
The more detail about the city, the better! Thank ya’ll!!
