Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Nothing Like A Sunny Friday After The Rain

Posted 04-04-2014 at 08:46 AM by case44

I guess I could sing the words to "Storms Never Last", but then, I'll just leave that venture up to Waylon and Jessi. Yesterday, North Texas was getting pelted by the forces of Mother Nature, and Ol' Case was nearly at ground zero for the festivities. Springtime tends to get like that now and then.

Oh, don't worry, folks. My abode is fine and I'm still in one piece. My neighborhood just had a brief shower with a few flashes of lightning out of all that. It's the areas not too far from me that got quite a bit more weather. We're talking thunderstorms, hail, lightning, and a few (almost) funnel clouds. Ahhh, springtime in Texas. Then again, many folks got a whale of an adventure and others got nothing.

But, now, as I write this, it is Friday. There was a gorgeous sunrise earlier. We have sunshine and some cooler temperatures, all the while heading up to upper-60-degree highs. This writer can take that any day, but the rain from yesterday is still badly needed. Lake levels in Texas are at their lowest point in three years (in many locations), and we need a rainy spring to make sure (1) we have water at our disposal and (2) boaters won't run into any unexpected foreign objects.

Maybe Mother Nature can be a little gentler next time around.

I hope the mild spring we've had is a sign of a not so hot summer. I didn't bring a jacket when I left the house yesterday and ended up regretting it. Odd for early April down here.
