Not so, many others in my area, the PacNW. I do understand their plight to a certain degree. Will watch with keen interest the net effects of a $15 minimum wage in Seattle, once that's fully phased-in.
I was born Middle Class, to a somewhat-stable home, in a basically-safe country. All of which were accidents of birth. And I'm grateful for that!
My parents had sufficient funds to allow me to complete 12 years of regular schooling, and another 4 of college. See previous paragraph, RE "grateful."
The rest, I built for myself once out of college, including two more Master's degrees and everything else. But I am certainly grateful to live in a largely-peaceful and prosperous country that "offered" me the OPPORTUNITY to succeed...if I dared.
I was, and am, free to descend the economic ladder as low as I want. Former friend of mine, already struggling on the economic ladder, descended to zero (homeless bum) for awhile. Not sure how that ended up, though I suspect she went on state disability. Truly one of those who needs to be on it, due to mental illness/bizarre views of the world. I'd love to passionately suggest (note: not "demand") all Democrats go on anti-depressants and anti-schizophrenia medication, too, but that's merely my view.
On a global scale, what's going to happen is war, pandemic, and a big die-off. Through normal demographic changes, or high explosives: I can't ascertain if it will go quietly, or with a bang. Let's remember than chaos and misery are the default condition of humanity; I've worked really hard to be where I am (according to one website, in worldwide income I'm 99.9% (or, more properly, a point-one percenter) 6,593,400,000 people make less than me.) Guess that means they'll hang me with the rest of the royalty, one of these days
. I'll not perish alone, though.That isn't "depressing," it's the default condition of humanity and a logical outcome of monkey-stupid behavior. It just...is.

Jobs are folding up anyways so why continue chasing a dollar
That will soon become worthless. I switched my skills to the IT world thinking I'd have better advantage at jobs opportunitis but I am witnessing nothing but discrimination and headaches.
