Out of state plates but forgot to remove NYC registration

In accordance with the law, when the registration was changed the plates were removed and returned to NY for destruction as NY requests but NY never requested that the registration sticker from the windshield be returned with the plates, which they could have done were it the law. The concern about non-matching plates and windshield stickers refers to current registrations in two states, not one current and one not any longer in effect. They have computers and should know what's expired when they use the same computers to generate tickets.
