Amusements, In-Brief

At least one of these three motives is the driving force behind every homicide, theft, burglary and robbery. In fact, these three motives lie at the heart of every conceivable crime or misdeed. Human misbehavior is motivated by: financial greed, sexual – or relational – lust, and the pursuit of power.

Today, it dawned on me the last 'Family Meal' I attended was at the last family member's funeral. I'm more than OK with that, good riddance to bad rubbish to the rest. I really, really enjoy solitude and TV dinners. The years pass. I'm quite content.

Life In-General: “Life is just one big train wreck, only interrupted by brief commercial breaks of happiness..” -=Deadpool

Observation of the week: if almost all the goals and dreams have been achieved, in both broad strokes and details, it is time to dream bigger.

There's always some as____le trying to "take you down" in life. Apparently some find independence, and associated contentment, both unnerving and obnoxious. Hmm? Oh: the trick seems to be not settling for less than you deserve, but aligning that with what you can reasonably achieve. The world is your oyster, but don't choke on the pearl.

On the Real World vs. Idealism: a good female friend considers me something of a slightly-warped sage, definitely pleasing to my ego. I've told her my top Life-Lesson: simply put, "Can you monetize it?" I think she thinks I'm kidding. I am not. Ideals are great, paying the rent is great-er. I'm no longer disappointed in myself for accepting a check from the Man: I'm only disappointed it took this long for Him to offer it.

On Dealing with Women: In my experience, some of the most successful relationships are based on lies and deceit. Since that's where they usually end up anyway, it's a logical place to start.

Per Globalrichlist (website), I am 99.95% by-income. I am the 3,039,474th richest man on Earth. Does that mean approximately 6,996,960,526 people now know who to call to borrow money?

Greece has, at this writing (8/5/2015) somehow escaped ejection from the EU via last minute deal made in July. This escape/bailout is occurring via additional loans. The IMF says Greece cannot pay back what it owes, much less more borrowed money. Thus, debt relief (write-off/write-down) is inevitable. Historically, the way around that has been currency default (devaluation) and inflating away the debt. Just ask Argentina. Greece can't do that, being pegged to the Euro vs. an independent currency. Not sure what the EU is smoking here. Once again, some murky political nuance escapes me, resulting in what appears (face value) to be nonsense. I sincerely hope the Greeks elect an even more radical/crazy political party, and promptly default AFTER all funds are dispersed. Would love to see Euro leaders explain that to their taxpayers. Can we say "revolution?"

On Spending and First World Problems/Dilemmas: I just spent $110, including shipping, on underwear. That is about 1/4 the annual income of a family in Democratic Republic of Congo. I cannot, however, for the life of me determine an easy way to ship my underwear to the needy in Congo. Something wrong with this picture...
