Teleworking . . . The Benes of More Time

Posted 07-09-2015 at 07:44 PM by PMcGee6

Just weeks after posting my commute blog, my company decided to offer two perks to employees . . . a compressed work week (which comprises an extra hour a day of work for every other Friday off) and teleworking up to two days a week.

I jumped on this chance, went immediately to sign up for both, practically the second the staff meeting where these perks were presented was out. I'm on my second Friday off. Can't say I've noticed a difference of an extra hour of work a day. I do get up about 30 minutes earlier in the morning, but that's not been too bad.

I can see only the pros to this situation. Gas money saved, wear and tear on the vehicle and mental state (when the traffic takes my commute into the two-hour range), more time for my kiddos . . . I guess one of the biggest cons is the "nonsocial, non-face-to-face" with coworkers. Not thinking it will affect me much. The colleagues I spend the most time with are teleworking the same days I am and so we'll be in the office on the same days too.

So stoked I can barely stand it. I feel a little as if I've been given back some time.
