Phoenix vs. Denver vs. Atlanta vs. Austin

Posted 02-20-2009 at 01:25 PM by Gailw_1979

I've lived in Phoenix now for over 5 years (by way of Lincoln, NE) and just found out my awesome job as an art teacher is being cut for next year... along with hundreds of other teaching jobs because of state cuts, low enrollment etc. Job market in Phoenix now looks gloomy for me.
It's quite possible that I could get a half time teaching position and then I could go back to school for my masters if I can get grant money and loans (in state tuition!) But I'm also considering moving because I have nothing substantial tying me to Phoenix besides my house that my roommate agreed to rent out... so this may be the time in my life to try out a new city!

I'm considering Denver, Atlanta and Austin so far. Anyone willing to give me some pros and cons for each and feedback on the job market for teachers in these cities? (or other cities??)

I'm in my late twenties, very outgoing, like cultural and outdoor activities, and would enjoy a fresh singles scene that has a fair amount of educated people of real substance.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Forget Denver.....it is way overrated. Austin and Atlanta are nice.
