Moving from Massachusetts to Maine

Hello!
We are looking to move from Massachusetts to Maine. We have vacationed many times near Old Olchard, Wells and Phippsburg.
We don't know much about living in towns/cities in Maine and would like some help. We have a lot to consider when moving so any detail will help.
We would like to like at least an half hour or an hour from the beach but not directly on it. We would like to avoid the big tourist busy towns and popular college areas. We are also trying to start a family so school systems are now very important to us. We want a nice town with a nice a family like community.
Apartment rentals are also something we are unfamiliar with in Maine. A two bedroom apartment no more than $900 or $1,000 is ideal. If those prices are even reasonable.
We also both work in Human Services. Both as a Correctional Officer and a Developmental Services Worker. If anyone knows of good employment opportunities that would be appreciated as well.
Thank you all!
