Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

So, Right Now, We'll Just Look At The Buildings

Suppose they built a school and nobody came?

Well, now, I won't go quite that far, but it'd be a funny scenario. As I have previously shared a time or two on Case's Column, the Frisco (Texas) Independent School District had to do something to ease the financial situation and keep costs at a minimum while still trying to operate without making drastic cuts. Four schools (two elementary, one middle school, and one high school) currently under construction will not open in the fall of 2017 as originally scheduled. So, now, the buildings must stand there --- dormant --- until the 2018-19 school year begins. Oh, the contractors will finish the work, of course, but the campuses will not inhabit any activity for one year.

What will be interesting to see is how the Frisco ISD will respond when more schools will be needed. There should be at least one for the Phillips Creek Ranch neighborhood for 2018, so it shouldn't be a surprise if they decide to commence with the design and construction of it in the next year. The potential is there for five schools opening in '18 instead of just the aforementioned four. Mark it down; you heard it here first. As for High School #11, I'll be interested to see if that effort, slated for a spot of land in west McKinney (the neighboring suburb to the east), will get going in the next year, but that campus is expected to open around 2019. For that to happen, construction would have to begin in the fall of this year, if the district is willing to spend a little money.

As long as Liscano Elementary, Talley Elementary, Lawler Middle School, and Memorial High School are put together, the least we can all do is go and look at the buildings. Eventually, there will be some semblance of life there.

That situation shows you that communists are wasteful people, shoe. It's putting the cart before the horse. That's just what they do in China.

Thankfully, such was not the case in Frisco. They planned well for the new schools; they're just trying to get over a rejected tax increase at the voters' precincts.

Memorial High School has their letterhead up on the campus building, and it looks great! It will be more than ready when day one, ....... ... er, ... finally hits in.

Mascot will be announced sometime in the winter.
