Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Plane And Simple? Wichita Falls Has Improved Its Future

This particular post is actually about two years overdue. I realize it's been too long since I've stopped in at Wichita Falls (I think it's been three or four years, at least). Well, sometime along the way, they've made a big improvement in their city, and this writer didn't even learn of this until stumbling upon a YouTube search.

All I had to do was type in Wichita Falls, and I saw several things with it, including the words Regional Airport. I thought, "What have we here?" I'd better check it out. And that's because, previously, the name of their airport was Municipal for many years. Well, they've stepped up and done something about that. They did it by tearing down an old terminal with no windows and was no bigger than a coat closet, and the end result with what they've built is what I saw in the video. Wow! It's larger, and it's more functional. Designed with Texas limestone and glass, the new Wichita Falls Regional Airport looks so much better and can accommodate more planes. A new terminal building on the same spot as the old one. New name. Now if they can just develop the surrounding area, even though they still share land with Sheppard Air Force Base. But this new airport opened up shop two years ago, and it's appearing to have a bright future.

Wichita Falls Regional Airport. Just let it sink in, sports fans. I'm waiting now for updates on Wikipedia and on the city's website as well as the airport's own website (which still has the name Municipal still sprinkled among its text).

Just think: WF can now compete with Midland.

Here is that video to show you what the city has done:
