Well it seems that I, as well as all members of City-Data Forum, have a blog now. That is very generous of City-Data so I feel obligated by etiquette to do something with it. The fact that I am an attention ***** and will take any opportunity to cheer lead for my home city has nothing to do with it at all. Really. I am being forced by good manners to do this blog and ego does not factor into it in any way.
First of all, I needed to decide what to blog about. Now I know that the most popular blogs concern topics with broad appeal that invite readers to comment and add something to the discussion.
This isn't that kind of blog. I mean, readers are invited, of course, to comment and all that, but this blog will almost certainly not have broad appeal. In fact, I estimate that maybe 5 people on City-Data are from Midland-Odessa and of those 5 approximately 0 will be interested in this blog. On the up side, with such a small demographic target, if anyone other than me actually reads this then I can consider this blog to have reached market saturation.
This blog is called Petrotopia and is about the oil producing cities of Midland and Odessa deep in the heart of West Texas.
Each blog entry will be titled with the current price of West Texas Intermediate Crude. I chose this method of naming entries because the price of oil is vital to the area, I thought it was clever, and I am very lazy and this will save me the effort of coming up with a new relevant and clever name for each entry I make.
Well, Ok then, we are off to good start here I think. Check back soon for the exciting chronicles of the West Texas Petrotropolis.
