I find the attached item despicable in the extreme. I'm not sure why this particular one bothers me, given the sewer pipe that runs out of Hollywood, but it just does.

I don't live in a box, but I've definitely noticed a decline in civility among debaters in the past few years. Former president Barack Obama could be very polarizing. In private, I would pick on him fairly often with my friends. The man was clearly an intellectual, however the decisions he made were baffling to me for my Common Sense perspective. That is all water under the bridge now, I'm simply providing some context.

Since Donald Trump was elected, the Civility level is probably gone from low to abysmal. Truly I grow tired of it. I'm a Republican, and always have been. This election cycle, we didn't get the man we wanted necessarily but we did get the man we needed. So frankly, Democrats and others, you'll have to live with it for the next three years and change. Republicans like myself if not exactly rejoicing are at least somewhat satisfied that aspects of our platform are being implemented. I don't need to go into the details about that, other than to say this was the will of the electorate do not be surprised if it is implemented for the will of the people.

What bothers me is what I am seeing among my peers. We are upper-middle-class, high earners in the greater Seattle area. Two of my best friends subscribe to what I interpret is a somewhat sick, misguided ideology based around a progressive or liberal perspective. However, I am always civil and largely keep my most passionate opinions to myself as a solid conservative. What I'm not seeing is the same thing for my opponents, some of whom are friends. When their arguments are confronted with facts and realities I'm not seeing the same level of Civility I did back when the tables were turned under former president Obama. What I detect is vehement and bitterness about President Trump. No response to that, when I bother to respond, is that that's the way it is in the United States and God bless us for it. And that, too, is often met by what almost comes to violence among Highly Educated, otherwise intelligent people.

Really, I hope this is all subjective. I hope we are not moving to Fraternal violence. My worst moments, I think that we are and that the Bloodshed will be very unfortunate although with only one outcome is inevitable.

Ending where I began, the quoted is not helpful the quoted is not some sort of strident message that needs to be sad because it is quote-unquote the right thing to do. In fact just the opposite is true. Conservatives will simply listen less.
