Just moved into the countryside 5 miles outside of Waynesville myself about 5 months ago. I'm a remote worker & I'm required to use a VPN full time. Att was the only reliable internet offered in my area at abysmal speeds, but my peace of mind was the fact that the previous owner of the house I was going to buy was also a remote worker.
I've only occasionally experienced temporary outages for a minute or two. Otherwise, no problem whatsoever. Working outside with a mountain view is, well, like heaven on earth. However, I have not gone through the winter months yet. If there's going to be outage problems, that will be that peak season. Frankly, I'm more concerned about the occasional bumper sticker around here that reads "Confederate lives matter" :-(
