Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

How Not To Carry A Heavy Television Set Down The Steps

Posted 01-13-2019 at 07:54 PM by case44

I just know y'all will probably giggle at this, and we all need a good laugh now and then. Not too long ago, I had purchased a new flat-screen television for my living room. Great, crisp reception as only one can get from a new TV in this day and age.

Well, Case had to lift up the old TV and put it down on the floor at the ol' abode. It weighs about seventy pounds. And I live on the second floor. Dilemma? Doesn't have to be. What is a guy with an aging, beat-up body to do?

He uses the old noodle....

After much thought, I saw some screws that I could get loose on the TV. That's right, sports fans, in due course, your favorite blogger will take apart his old TV set, piece by piece. Since I am prone to falls, the last thing I would want is to attempt to take a heavy telly down a flight of apartment breezeway stairs. Carrying it down whole is out of the question. So, I will take it apart, and take the separate pieces, which will be lighter, and put them in the nearest dumpster..................which isn't full.

Well, if you've got an objective, then, dadgummit, you've got to just run with it.

Too bad I couldn't get the pieces out before the bug sprayer comes and does his thing.

Getting some large --- really large --- trash bags this afternoon. Bug prevention sprayer in and out in 2 minutes. No incidents.
