Duke Energy is facing opposition from Anderson residents on whether to raise its monthly charges.

Here is the story:
Duke Energy wants to bring up it's "basic facilities charge". The basic facilities charge is essentially a base price that you pay for service from Duke Energy. By bringing up that base price, it makes it harder for people to conserve energy to save money because they are forced to spend on a fixed, have to pay charge.

Just to give a little additional information, this isn't just going on in Anderson Co. but also in the rest of the upstate. Though Anderson had its hearing yesterday about the rate hike at the Old Anderson County Courthouse in Anderson, Greenville County is holding a hearing on the rate hike at 301 University Ridge in Greenville today, at 6pm (Thursday the 14th of March, 2019). Spartanburg has already had its hearing (Duke also faced opposition from residents in Spartanburg).

Here is an additional video to go with the hearing in Anderson:http://www.independentmail.com/videos/news/local/2019/03/14/duke-energy-holds-hearing-rate-increases-community-voices-concerns/3158027002/
