I want to support what you wrote. "Insulting and hurtful" is exactly right, and the reason I don't post anywhere but here now. Some of the people that do that, I bet if you encountered them in RL (real life), might look normal but if they got control over you in private, might hurt you. In other words, they're vicious, cruel and probably violent. We all need to be careful. Something like 4-6% of the population are psychopaths and a small percentage of those are killers. See (for example):

The Liar in Your Life: The Way to Truthful Relationships, Robert Feldman
The End of Privacy, Charles J. Sykes
Desktop Witness, Michael A. Caloyannides
Emotional Vampires: Dealing With People Who Drain You Dry, Albert Bernstein Kindle ed.
Net Crimes and Misdemeanors, J. A. Hitchcock
The Gift of Fear, Gavin De Becker
The Sociopath Next Door, Martha Stout
Snakes in Suits: When Psychopaths Go to Work, Paul Babiak
Without Conscience: The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Among Us, Robert D. Hare

And then, of course, there are those posters who are consistently negative, don't really understand anything but their own limited perspective, and throw a negative monkey wrench into every discussion.
