Now that your unpacked and got to test drive the area for a bit, encountered some locals and yokels, and hopefully some actual people that moved to the area from your home town or state its time to list the likes you have of your new or semi-new, or heck if the area is your native home than by all means and ways list what you like! Y'all got it? Well here goes!

Weather! You like or not!
Year round flowers!
Long springs!
Longer Autumns!
Shorts year round! For the hearty ones that is.
Variety of sub divisions to chose from!
Snow is a neat event versus a ho-hum not again event!
No rust on older cars! Amazing if your from the Northeast!
Can fish year round without cutting holes in the water (ice) for us North Easterners!
Pretty country side is usually only 5 minutes or less from where you live anywhere in the triangle.
People R People. No matter what they say!
Day trip to Mountains!
Day trip to Ocean!
And in a lot cases no trip at all to the many lakes, ponds, river, and streams that spot the area!
Good food can be had by all and more is always welcome irregardless if they are called viddles or pickins!
Out away from the city lights the sky at night explodes with the many stars that fill the emptiness of space with the occasional flying star to catch a dream or two on!
Groceries can be cheaper but we all have to eat!

Sure it takes time to get use to this place, remember the place you came from was called home and that is never a easy place to replace! But give it time, explore the area and get involved and this place too will be your new home not only in name but in feeling!

May the triangle, RDU, RTP, Crossroads, the Quay, Wake Forest, Knightdale, Apex, Raleigh, Durham, Zebulon, Oxford, Mossisville, Franklinton, Youngsville, Chapel Hill, Henderson, ...seems like I am forgetting somewhere....????......Oh yea! and Cary, be with you!

Oh Tarheels! I forgot to number the above as I did say I would count thy ways!

Wake Forest, NC. located in Wake County NC. Some call it Wake's Forest of the Triangle....Ok maybe that's just me. But if you come from the North East, Wake Forest seems to fit. It has some rolling hills and many farming areas.

It has a small town feel but close to Raleigh, you could be down town Raleigh, depending on time of day in about 15 to 30 minutes. You can be at the Virginia border in less than an hour.

It has old Historical homes and some new subdivisions. It certainly worth a look see if your looking and seeing the area. It has transplants from New Jersey, New York, and many other NE State and Mid West and California and....well you get the idea people from all over this great country now calls Wake Forest home!

C'mon down, over, left, or right and check it out you may just like what you see.

For road updated in Wake Forest...well the Rt 98 By pass is moving right along. At the moment its at a winters halt but I'm sure dirt will be moving soon! When the buds pop the dirt moves! Estimated completion spring 2010. The other project underway is the extra left turning lane on new Falls of Neuse heading East. So left turns onto Capital Blvd should not back New Falls of Neuse up so much. ....and this is your Wake Forest Road Round up for today!

Lot's of rain last evening in Wake Forest. Down right gully washer. Today mostly cloudy with some light sun. I think light sun sounds better than variable sunshine. But still a great Wake Forest day! So for the start of the week we'll take it and ride it right through till Sunday! Enjoy all!

Today 06/08/09 Hot and Hazy today in Wake Forest! Good day to wash the car, the dog, the boat, and any other activity that uses a hose! Temp to be 91 today and the summer heat is rapidly approaching! So drop the 5/8" hose and time to get out the fire house for the summer heat!

Rt 98 Bypass work is continuing...at some point this summer I think it will get very interesting OK maybe a bit frustrating to get around that area as they start to start and stop traffic on Rt 98, Thompson Mills, Falls of Neuse and Old Rt 98 roadways! Make sure the AC is working in the car!

So stay cool and tuned in and travel to Wake Forest for a visit or your next home or for whatever! Enjoy!

Very nice storm last night 06/09. One I like to call the Garden Variety of storms. Good for listening to and good for the garden! The thunder was at a distance and the rain was up close and personal if you were out in it.

Another hot and humid day on tap with some isolated showers in the evening! So enjoy your day and Wake-up to the Forest in northern Wake County!

    Thanks for reading!

The commute from Wake Forest to RTP via 540 @ Falls of Neuse. Use to be a hassle. If you head south on Thompkins Mill Road to Falls of Neuse after 6:50am you hit the automobile Congo line. stop-go, go-stop, you know the routine. YUCK! So varied the start time to 6am and it is so nice! No Congo line an occasion bus pulling out of Wakefield high school and a few cars. Even 540 at that time heading west is light. And that is a -A-ha moment when you can cruise at the speed limit and no one is creeping up into your closed truck! So one can get from Wake Forest to RTP with little stress by just varying ones times. For those that can't than its a bummer!

Did do the Capital to 540 route to but it was always a multi lane Congo line! I like my Congo lines single lane width myself!

I was glad to see a Dunkin Donuts coming to near Wake Forest on New Falls of Neuse! About time if your into Donuts! As I drove around Wake Forest this evening it hit me like a drop of rain in a storm that Wake Forest is truly a beautiful area.

As the sun set over the western horizon the clouds that were scattered across the sky turned dark against the dimming blue sky. The clouds formed characters and patterns that made ones imagination go into overdrive. I seen figures that reminded me of my youth growing up and lying back on a hill of grass far far away, looking up at the sky and with my cousins thinking what the shapes formed. I shall date myself here and say we saw Fred, Barney, Wilma, and Dino! Yes they all floated by in a parade of big puffy white clouds. We did not need Wii nor a Sonyplay Station to have a great time!

So tonight over Wake Forest I seen a alligator, a pair of jumping dolphins, La Bron James dunking a basketball even! Oh baby!

What a great evening to reflect on the past and imagine the future. Forks it was one of those days that one could truly say; 'yea this is the first day of the rest of my life!' Have a fantastic weekend and keep Wake Forest in your future plans for that drive to do something or to make it your future home!

Fair amount of rain fell and falling and to fall over the Wake Forest area. ....and now they say the Summer Temps are coming! As we track through the 80s today and upper 80's tomorrow in route to near 100 degrees by Saturday. At least the Heat Index will be at 100 or over! That is the stifling stuff! But we have been very fortunate this year so far that the heat has stayed away. It has been absolutely beautiful spring. Grass is still green!

So it is an excellent time to come visit Wake Forest and the surrounding area!

...and in the words of Popeye.."that's all I can Blog and I can't Blogs no more'...........

May the eternal word be far far away from you! ...and that eternal word is Taxes!

Monday June 22 and it was cooler today. Father's Day +1 but temps were -10. Nice! Sweet! Petite..??? Naw! just plain ole summer day with less humidity. One of those less humid days where you can swish the humidity versus cutting it with a butter knife!

So from Wake Forest NC it was a sweet day! Hope Y'All enjoyed Father's Day +1.

May your southern cruse down Capital Blvd Rt 1 be car less and your windows down to suck in the fresh air!

What a fantastic evening to sit out and watch a high school summer league baseball game. As the bright sun set into the western sky it took the days heat with it. The bright yellow globe changed the sky to an orange glow as it fell over the horizon and as time passed it turned darker and darker until night fell upon us. It was hard to tell with the bright lights of the game that night had truly fallen.

The temperature was near perfect and the bugs were busy chasing the artificial lights surrounding high above the field and left us game watchers alone for the most part.

Little cheering went on as we all soaked up the night around us and the game was secondary. It was a great game with few errors and few runs! Balls were hit and balls were caught but tonight more that the ball game had our focus and attention.

It was summer in its nightly wonder with low humidity captivated us! A night that truly deserves a double header with extra innings! If you love amateur baseball and a perfect night than to night was utopia!

As the game came to a close in the 7th inning it was time for that 7th inning stretch to pick up the chairs and collect the fallen sun seeds and just be thankful for a wonderful day and the hope for a better tomorrow!

So yes far more than a baseball game played out in front of us, friendship, competition, conversation with strangers about life in general, and the gift of a summers day in ole Wake Forest, NC!

Falls Lake. If you have not had the time nor opportunity to check out Falls Lake please try to do so. There are many walking paths and campgrounds spread around the lake. Plus boating around the lake itself is wonderful.

If your fortunate enough to have a boat or know someone does than take a boat ride with them. The launch on Six forks Roads is still FREE!

One can cruise all around the lake and see boaters, fisherman, skiers, wake boarders (no they weren't invented in Wake County..), knee boarders, jet skiers, tubers, and people being pulled behind a boat with no skies at all! YIKES!

But sometimes it is great just to slip back into a quiet bay where the water becomes flat like a piece of glass and just watch the world go by! Occasionally breaking the silence of the moment with a splash of the still water with your fishing lure dreaming of that big one.

Sometime when your luckily enough nature comes to you. The big Herrings that swoop in like a Pterodactyl to find that awesome feeding spot of the edge of the lake. Sometimes the mother Deer and her Fawn coming to the edge of the lake for a nice cool drink and swim. Countless turtles come up to the boat looking for a quick meal or just being noisy. The show nature puts on is priceless so take the time and the admission is "free" it just cost you some precious hours of your day. And for me trading those hours for what Falls Lake has to offer always has me coming out the winner!

Ahhh its been awhile since my last Blog entry as I had my Blog writing kaboos out of State. Visiting a city I had only flown through or attended a meeting or two at the airportconference room. But this time it was to stay, see, walk, cab, bus, subway, train throughout it. As I thought about those modes of transporations I could not help but reflect how great a train or subway would be to traverse Capital Blvd from Youngsville to Downtown Raleigh. It was a pleasant experience where while bouncing from side to side on the subway I got to chat with my fellow riders! Learned about the city I was in and found some neat things to see while I was there from the insiders view! Could not do that while driving down Capital Blvd now could I?

Well as nice as the trip was and in the words of Dorthy there is no place like home and that means points east, west, north, and south of Kansas.

Wake Forest, North Carolina is just mighty fine to me!

What a beautiful sun rise today! As I drove into work today I seen it raise in my rear view mirror like a bright star rising in the darken sky. It made me squint at first as it reflected off the mirror into my eyes but it was like the switch in my mind that flipped allowing me to think of the possibilities of the day! Sure its Wednesday, hump day but it is a glorious hump day filled with anticipation and potential grander or lost and defeat!~ Well dag-nab-bit it shall be grander...forget the defeat and lost!

Today is the first day of the rest of ALL our lives so with the promise of the great sunrise shall give warmth and compassion to all that allow its rays to shower them!

Have the best day ever and keep the sunshine in your rear view mirror or over your head or in front of you as its sets to close out this wonderful day because today will be your day!!

As always keep Wake Forest NC in your potential place to visit, stay awhile or make your home!

Oh where oh where have the jobs gone?

Our triangle area was a magnet for construction jobs
and all were drawn like iron fillings to it.
Then a great magnetic force came and over took our magnet and the iron filling began to fall away.
Those fillings took construction, tradesmen, retail, manufacturing, IT, and Management positions away.

Our area held tough and Medical related jobs stayed.
Some construction jobs stayed to build the many new
medical related building in this growth area. One does not have to travel far within just the Wake Forest area to see all the Medical buildings that are near completion or under construction or in the planning phases. Real job growth generation. It will re-energize our magnet to draw more iron fillings (people) to our area.....good right?

But wait this looks, smells, and taste just like the home and retail boom of the 2004-2007! Then the floor literally fell-out.

Well with Health care cost being debated in Congress and many people committed to make a change and that change is to save health care cost which means less health care $$ by government, public and private companies, and individuals.........that reads like the bust is coming to health care too. But when 2010,2011, 2015?

Where will that leave our area that is Dependant on the Health field for jobs? Who will fill all the open Medical space within all the buildings?

Time will tell if a bust is coming in the health care industry.

Went car look/seeing over the weekend at a few car lots on Capital Blvd and couple of things caught my attention. One, especially the Honda lot had a few people walking around and doing what I was doing, and had several cars that had SOLD signs on them!

More than I have seen in awhile so maybe things are turning around. The CASH for CLUNKERS deal will certainly help. Get ready for the bombardment of the mass mailing from dealerships explaining the program I already got 2 in the mail this past week.

I drive an old Honda and it has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. Bought it new and have more miles on it than any car I have ever owned and feel as comfortable today to jump in and drive it to California as I did when it was new. I don't consider it a CLUNKER but in the eyes of the government it is considered a CLUNKER and I maybe able to get $4500 for it as a trade for a new more efficient car that too someday will be a CLUNKER. Time will tell but for now that CLUNKER is all mine free and clear to drive it until the wheels fall off and that is just fine with me!

    Happy Monday!

It was just a nice weekend to be out and about.

Here we are Mid week, hump day, the day to start the decent into the weekend! The day to make or break how we characterize the week.......YiKeS!

Well here is saying it will be a wonderful week and if that is not how you are feeling than there is still time to change it from ho-hum to hum-dinger! From man its Wednesday.....to dang its Wednesday already!

So take time to breath the air, go for a walk and see everything that is in front of you. But first.....
    clear your mind.
think of times in your life that made you smile.
reflect on where you currently are in life.
refocus where you are to where you want to be.
see life anew, fresh, and exciting!

Its all up to you....you know! Enjoy it!!!!!!

    Happy Wednesday......indeed!

With great interest and deprivation I watched the Health Care News Conference last night and was disappointed. I just did not get the details of this new Health Plan I was hoping to get.

It is a very tough subject matter, I am fortunate enough today to have health care coverage and have to chose my plan each year and that in itself is a challenge. It is a gamble. I gamble to the odds of staying healthy versus getting sick each year. Do I sock money away in the Health Care Spending account in the event I am sicker next year versus losing it because I was healthier? Do I get rebates for not smoking and exercising and losing weight or do I just bag it and say I have to live a little too? Do I get eye care and Dental coverage?

I firmly believe something has to be done or most of us will not be able to afford any type of health care. Double digit increases each and every year is not sustainable.

The real question is how much health care is enough or to much and so we want to make that decision or do we want that in the hands of someone else?

IMO we can reduce Health Care rather quickly if we ask that ALL drug related commercials are removed from TV and Magazine adds. People seem to see these adds and relate to what they see and run to the Doctors to get that new Medicine that will make their life's better.

Is that not what they want to ban cigarettes commercials and alcohol commercials so its out of sight and out of mind to our young people and recovering alcoholics?

Tough questions for our leaders and I wish them all the very best to make the wise decisions based on our needs not necessarily our wants!

    Happy Thursday!

Oh the one thought I will leave you with is the new Medical building they built on the corner of New Falls of Neuse and Capital Blvd right behind the new Harris Teeters. What a beautiful building, WOW, grander comes to mind. Would the patient of that nice building be better off if the money spent making that castle be better spent on the actual care than on the bricks? That building to me helps explains the health care mess we are in....drive by and take a look and you decide if its money well spent or just spent?

Well the weekend has come and gone yet again,
it seemed to pass like the visit from a Hummingbird.
But did manage to spend some time in what I think is
one of the areas best kept secrets. Have to type this
in all lower case and quickly so it don't end up in any Blog somewhere on the internet and maybe even twittered away.... lol

But that place is the walk off from Falls of Neuse parking lot to the Falls Dams. It is a beautiful walk complete with paved path and abundance of wild life. From birds to squirrels, to sometime deer and woodchucks. It is quick and peaceful. It is wooded and shady to stay from the sun while on the path. My favorite time to walk is when the entrance is closed after 5:30PM. No cars only the occasional bike rider. The riders are sometimes single or in pairs and sometimes its a whole family of 3, 4, 5+ riding there bikes on the road to and from the Falls Dam.

Its a great time to relax and reflect on your day, week, month or past hour. Its time to take deep breaths so exhale away life's shallowness sometimes.

Its a great place to walk your best friend(s) and your significant other as well! Its time to spend what everyone wants more of and that quality time with our loved ones.

As you wind down the path from the parking lot to the Dam you can't help but notice the beauty of nature around you. Than when you come upon the Dam you see how high above the water you are. As you proceed on the Dam you can see on both sides families and individuals fishing and swimming and picnicking. Well its Yogi Bears dream...all those picnic baskets!

You can stop and look out and sometime see boaters and tubers on Falls Lake. Just plain wonderful! And if you time it right you can see the Sun begin to set but don't wait to long as its a long dark walk home as their are no path lights!

So I for one am most grateful that I took the time to take that walk down that path to the Dam this past weekend and reflect how blessed we truly are when we take the time to reflect and enjoy the simple things in life!

    Happy Monday!
