CharMeck's hiring freeze thaws when it comes to Nepotism

Here in the Great State of Mecklenburg, we are told there is a hiring freeze. But evidently, someone forgot to tell the Department of Social Services. Not only did they hire more than 30 people during a supposed hiring freeze, three of those they hired were related to other county officials.
It is obvious that in the land of Good Old Boy politics, it is who you know (and not what you know) that can land you a plum position.
To make things worse, one of the people hired was brought on board immediately after an ad for the position ran for only ONE DAY.
Charlotte city councilman and mayoral candidate Anthony Foxx's wife, Samara, was the person hired for that briefly advertised spot. She and her hubby are protesting that anyone would have the audacity to question Samara's qualifications.
And to top it off . . . recently hired Chief of Police Monroe's daughter was another lucky recipient of a job that mysteriously became available during this supposed hiring freeze.
I, for one, am disgusted with these types of games being played with tax payer dollars. I don't care how qualified someone may or may not be . . . when there is a hiring freeze, it is to be respected.
And if the politicians in this town don't want to be questioned about their ethics and Good Old Boy tactics, then they should be above reproacch. Hiring friends and family may go on in cities all over the country . . . but thawing a hiring freeze just to give someone's spouse or daughter a job is questionable at best . . . and ignoble, at the least.
