Just a bit more news

I still haven't completely moved into the new trailer. The contractor has promised twice to come up and set up the septic hose and bailed twice. My friend, who was going to help me install the toilet, has also bailed on me twice.

I'm still not sure if I'll even get the bed. It's supposed to be delivered on the 5th and I plan to call to make sure of that. Now it seems there's a problem with the payment. First it never went through until last week. Then the bank was calling and texting me because they thought it was fraud.

I called the bank and assured them the charge was OK. So naturally, as of today, the charge still hasn't gone through. I guess I'm calling my bank on Monday, too.

But I'm having a blast with all the little critters coming around. What I thought were juncos are actually towhees. I have 6 of those that come to eat and drink. Then I've had at least 17 chickadees, 20 doves, 2 quail, 2 rabbits, 2 chipmunks, 2 red (Douglas) squirrels, and the doe with twin fawns showing up on almost a daily basis.

Reddy Kilowatt is unbelievable. He chases the doves, the other squirrel, the chipmunks, and the rabbit. The chipmunks and the other squirrel have to run for their lives so when I sit out there, I'm always looking out for them.

The rabbit, though, is 4 times Reddy's size and all he does is hop around until he gets tired of being hassled. Then he takes off.

There's a place in my yard where the quail take dust baths and the rabbit likes to scratch up the dirt and roll around in the same place. In the mornings, he's so happy he just leaps into the air and kicks, just like a bucking bronco. He'll also wander over right under my feet.

All of the critters are starting to get maybe a little too used to me. The doe was in my yard for an hour yesterday grazing and just flicked her ears when I got up and walked back to the old trailer. The chickadees will sometimes land on my knees and I'm trying to get the chipmunks to eat out of my hand.

The to-do list in August includes buying a computer desk and getting my computer hooked up (FINALLY!!!), getting my things out of storage, getting the toilet installed, and maybe getting a shed for the washer and dryer. The shed may have to wait till September.

I especially want my computer back because the libraries may close again if things get worse with Covid. I'm currently in the library 3 times a week and using their computers and it's been wonderful getting online, even if only for a couple hours a week. Still it's better than nothing.
