Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Recapturing My Stride After A Crazy Foot Problem

Posted 07-20-2022 at 07:35 PM by case44

Sometimes, your writer would have things happen to him while not knowing for certain how it came about. Or, for that matter, why it did.

So, The Case had gone through this past week wondering how that right foot suddenly developed an unusual growth in the back of the heel, accompanied by some apparent tendon pain. I was practically limping while walking, and that discomfort intensified over the weekend. My right foot was acting up, but how? I don't wear tight shoes, dress-up or sneaks, and I don't recall colliding with any strange object or hard place. This morning, I stubbed a toe whilst trying to reach for the bedroom door, but that was on my left foot! Oh, well, but as for that right foot, I decided to go online and see what that nagging distraction had been that made me think "Maybe I'm just getting old." I was looking for a cure. Trusty was the internet when your writer found his "Eureka".

Haglund's Deformity.

Yep, that's what I've had. Now, the good news is, I've taken some ibuprofen as recommended, and that has worked. Much of the pain has subsided, but I still need to soak this foot. And it doesn't hurt to keep some Ben Gay closeby. Good stuff for pain. Haglund's Deformity was what this writer mysteriously had, but thankfully, I just might regain my brisk walking pace just in time for my upcoming vacation. You could say I'm glad it was nothing bigger than that or worse.

Just one step in the right direction....
