Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

I-69 Update: Corrigan Relief Route Construction Is Underway
Posted 12-11-2022 at 08:44 PM by case44
Major upgrade alert: East Texans can finally rejoice over the start of an important new bypass route for U.S. Highway 59 around Corrigan, Texas. It's certainly time for that.
When completed, it will become part of Interstate 69 and the arterial network it's expected to encompass in Texas and seven other states. After land clearance, the road structure can actually begin to take place. The bypass is going in on the west side of Corrigan. All the construction is expected to take six years??!! Uh, that's right, sports fans. Texas transportation officials are saying about six years. Now, I'll wax optimistic and predict that the project can be finished ahead of schedule, and things like weather could certainly cooperate.
I-69 is slowly taking shape northeast of Houston. Eventually, Splendora to Cleveland will be signed, to be followed by Cleveland through Shepherd. What's taking place north of Corrigan are segments being built in Diboll, Lufkin, and Nacogdoches. For signage to happen, the new mainlanes will have to keep marching northward from the Houston area since those are further along than anything points north. A freeway segment does exist on U.S. 59 in Livingston, but I'm not real sure if any tweaking needs to be done with it. If it's interstate-ready, then we'll just need the Shepherd-to-Livingston stretch and the portion north of Livingston up to the future Corrigan bypass.
That's where East Texas is at now with future I-69 doings. More to come on these developments. Hopefully, we'll have new updates soon from Nac and Diboll.
