Ramblings

I am looking forward at the moment, and it is just tiring to listen to the constant negativity about the economy. I thing we need to have a two-pronged approach. First, I do agree that we need some of the items in the stimulus, but do we need everything that exists in the package? I think not when China still holds our indebted bonds that are becoming even further wrangled in increased defecits by the day. The developing countries are continuing to gain a greater influence due to the fact that so many labor intensive industries have gone over there. Here is a tip: examine some of the items you buy at the store to see where they come from. You will be surprised at the variety obviously.

Where us Americans can take a stand is with our food supply. We must concentrate on local food networks that are included in a community supported agriculture program at the town level. Individuals can buy common shares into the CSA and get fresh produce during the growing season. Local farmers benefit and the food is much fresher while using far less oil derived products from crop growth, to crop harvest, to crop consumption. Our appetite for globalized commercial agriculture food products must subside given the fact that our own FDA has been found to be doing a less than stellar job in recent years.
I have taken a stand in terms of being more self sufficient with regard to my food consumption. I try to buy local whenever possible, have joined the local CSA, and grow my own vegetables and fruits.
I urge you to consider local foods
