Affordable Land and Housing in Maine

My wife and I would like to sincerely extend to Maine forum members who are looking to move to Maine, or to improve their living arrangements in Maine, an offer of a blog format to discuss the various options available for cooperative effort. We feel that as long as isolated individuals try to find what they are looking for on their own, or with the aid perhaps of a realtor, they may have to settle for something less than what they consider ideal.
The economy is getting a little tough for all of us to deal with. The real estate situation is not as good as it has been for the past decade or so. Maine land/home prices are certainly reasonable compared to most other states, especially in the northeast. But judging from some of the posts I have read, the costs of a decent residence in Maine are still too high. I feel that many prospective Mainers are attracted to the state by the low land/home prices, but seem to be upset at the high costs of getting set up. That is what I would like to address in this on-going blog, assuming it draws any interest from the forum members.
I will be attentive to comments and will try to post at least once a week, if not more frequently. It seems that this is a topic of some interest here.

Thanks and take care,
