When in Raleigh, be sure to check out the many historic neighborhoods in the downtown area!

As my username suggests, I live in North Raleigh. However, that does not mean I don't enjoy the beauty of the many historic neighborhoods in and around downtown Raleigh. I highly recommend people new to the area check out the areas of Oakwood, Mordecai, Boylan Heights, Five Points and Cameron Park on a nice spring or fall day. The architecture and mature landscaping to be found in these neighborhoods is quite a site to behold. I like to take pictures of historic homes as a hobby and have posted many threads on this topic here on City-Data. Below are some pictures of a couple of my favorite smaller bungalow type homes in these neighborhoods.

Enjoy your posts and pics. Gives DH and I places to go when we're in town. Hope to see a lot more when we're there fulltime.Posted 08-01-2008 at 11:31 PM by amcjap
