So much of the info posted in the forum becomes lost and burried, I've decided to publish some of it in easy to access blog quips. Not alot of content space in these so I hope what is here will suffice for now.

Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides)
Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides)
Here are some photos to the ancient tree once thought extinct. It more closely resembles the California Coastal Redwood in it's appearance, foliage, etc, with the biggest exception being that it is deciduous and looses all of it's leaves in winter time. Notice the same resemblance to Coast Redwood in bark colour, cones, foliage, etc but with the exception of Red/Orange fall coloured foliage just before winter dormancy. This would have been the ideal adaptation for those ancient forests above the Arctic Circle.

Notice another one of those interesting websites dedicated to the history of the Dawn Redwood
Dawn Redood.org
Looking atthe information out there on Dawn Redwood with regards to Forestry, it is seriously being considered as a viable Forest Resources for such products as lumber. There are numerous areas on the planet in temperate regions away from most oceanic coasts in continental interiors where it could prove a valuable commodity. It remains to be seen just how well this works out however since mankind as a whole has proved beyond all doubt to be an irresponsible caretaker of our planet. While there are numerous conscientious individals out there trying to make a difference, it takes everyone on the planet to get on board and with the program of education as to being responsible with regards our Earth. From the constantly updated daily news we see in the media on this, the prospects for this actually happening are doubtful. If indeed there is a creator of all these amazing ecosystems and natural wonders, then he'll have to step in soon and say, "It's Enough", this failed experiment of man self-rule has come to it's finish. Considering the lack of ideas to the ills that effect our world and planet, I see no other option.
