On Death And Dying

I never had a diary or a journal. I never thought I would ever write adout dying either, but here I am, and I do not know where to start. It's been an eleven year journey that has not ended. There are days when I don't know whether I should laugh or cry, so I don't do either. But I've learned nobody wants to talk about it, not even doctors. I've learned to be my own support system while I deal with doctors, nospitals, nurses, pharmacies and the inevitable.
I'm angry. The dying were treated much better 30 years ago. Today it's all about money, HMO's and bad doctors.
I'm angry. Life is too short. I'm surrounded by death. I'm not kidding, My daughter, my spouse, two sister-in-laws and my dog all have dreadful, expensive diseases with not much hope for a life. The only person I talk to who is not put off by death is a young funeral director; his dad is the mortician. I must have a morbid sense of humor because I always thougth that was funny.
This isn't about sympathy, I can't afford it. The blog is about a place to talk about death and dying. .

I gather that none of these people/dogs have actually died yet. I have lost both my parents, both my in-laws (wife's parents), and my very special German Shepherd, Marty - all within the past 5 years. YES it helps to have someone to talk to about it. I find you get a lot of platitudes, which wear thin pretty fast. It helps to remember that a person is not just their body. That's the only part that passes on. They will live forever. As for the doctors and money and all that, it's just "noise" that goes away. Keep the faith!Posted 08-02-2008 at 06:09 PM by Nor'Eastah
