Welcome To Case's Column
Since this will be my first venture into the mysterious world of blogging, let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings "Case's Column". I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, I'll set aside a place here for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Here you are. My very first blog page. Come on in and share in the experience. I'm interested in seeing where this is all going. And thanks in advance for dropping by!
Regards,
case44

A Very Happy Fourth Of July, 2009
Posted 07-03-2009 at 09:25 AM by case44
It's that time of year once again. Time for burgers on the grill and fresh watermelon. Time for a good parade to get us all in the mood for patriotism and what we still believe in as Americans. Time to take pride in our great nation.
July 4 is upon us again for another year, folks. Take time to pause and reflect, and also, to celebrate the birth of America with your family and friends. Enjoy this weekend!

It is only 11 pm on the 3rd, but the troupes just cannot wait. Fireworks have been going off over the lake for the last 2 hours.
People in WA take the 4th very seriously. They spend up to $1500 on fireworks from Boom City on the Tulalip reservation. In most places the fireworks are a couple of hours on the evening of the 4th. Here it is all day and all night the day before and all day and night on the 4th.
I guess, I am lucky because I just sit on my front porch and enjoy the spectacle for however long it lasts. This is the first year I am without a dog and my 23 year old cat is deaf, so I could actually go out and do something if I want without any worry about them being frightened.
Maybe I will. I do have a favorite place about 10 miles north in La Conner, where they shoot their fireworks over the river.
Enjoy your holiday!Posted 07-04-2009 at 01:14 AM by yukiko11

Canes, thanks, and I live by myself in an apartment, but I don't have an outdoor grill and wouldn't be able to use one on my patio. If I do burgers, I can do them on my George Foreman for now.
But if I had my druthers, I'd live in a Spanish villa house and I'd definitely use a charbroiler in the back.
Enjoy your fourth!Posted 07-04-2009 at 06:05 AM by case44
