My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego | List of Best Posts
This blog is where I express myself to the world or at least to those who might stop by to read what I post . Maybe God will use what I post (I am a Christian and this blog will have a most decidedly Christian bent to it) to good effect in the lives of my readers.

I may turn some of my posts into a book. I may cease blogging here altogether. Who knows. But for now..I am content to post away in this, my own little corner of the world.

Rather than reading through my now lengthy list of posts you may wish to read what I consider to be my very best posts or you can just read the posts that deal with a single subject category that might interest you.

Please know that I am open to any input on any topic I write about. If you have something to say about anything you see written here please....feel free to speak up in the form of leaving a comment or sending me a PM (private message).

And if you are in San Diego and wish to meet the one and only Carlos (that's me )...drop me a private message. I always enjoy meeting one of my readers!

Thanks.

Carlos

My computer monitor absolutely breaks down. Completely but...

Posted 07-05-2009 at 10:09 PM by carlos123
Yesterday when I went to turn on my computer for my morning ritual of reading my email, the news, and checking for comments on this blog...well the computer monitor was absolutely and completely fried. As in broken. Literally cracked.

The strong clip on the left of my screen that I had been using to hold the screen together there ended up putting such pressure on that part of the screen that overnight it finally cracked on me.

The liquid inside the screen started leaking out and there was nothing I could do to bring back the screen. It was done for.

So I sat there wondering what in the world I was going to do.

I make my living over the Internet so without a computer to work over...well...let's just say the situation was grim to say the least.

Fortunately a friend of mine who had offered to let me use a monitor a few months ago still had the monitor and was more than willing to let me use it.

So by the end of the day I had a new computer monitor (it's quite nice) and a nice big, full sized keyboard all attached to my lowly laptop CPU and was back in business.

God provided for me again!

Not only did my friend provide me with a computer and keyboard but earlier that morning I was supposed to call him to get together for a barbecue at his mom's place and could not call (since I make outgoing calls through Skype on my computer). And the nearest payphone was no more. They took it out a week ago.

My landlord wasn't around and I absolutely could not find a way to make a phone call.

So I couldn't call out and if my friend and me could not connect I could not have found out if he still had a monitor I could use.

So...I prayed and asked the Lord to please have him show up anyway even though I am a good half hour away from him by car.

Well...he did! He came anyway.

We had a wonderful day! We first enjoyed a jacuzzi and pool. Then followed that up by eating a most wonderful meal, a veritable feast, prepared by his mom. To top that off we then headed for the beach where we watched fireworks late into the night.

As a result of my computer breaking down I was actually corraled by God into reading the Bible more yesterday morning (as I had absolutely nothing else to do). That extra dose of bible reading prepared me to better minister to my friend later that day. As a result the Lord really used me.

As I sat on that beach still wondering if I will ever be able to walk normal again (my knees...both of them this time...are not quite right...I think it might be a case of early arthritus) I thought to myself and told the Lord that my whole life would be worth living if I could just minister to people like I was being enabled by Him to minister to my friend. That walking or not walking meant nothing to me in comparision to being used by God.

Being used by the Lord is really all that matters to me in this life. Other than that I am just passing through. The next life is going to be the good one for me. The Lord has been teaching me to focus on the next life in recent years and that is where my heart is now. Not this one.

And sitting on that beach talking with a good friend, reading the bible together, watching the fireworks, with the grandeur of God's creation around me, and being used by God to minister into someone else's life...that for me was one of the highlights of my entire stay in San Diego so far.

I was so at peace. So fulfilled. So content with being exactly where I was...doing exactly what I was doing. Legless, carless, and still relatively poor (though I hope to make enough surplus this month to be able to start paying back some debts) but floating in a sea of the type of blessings that really count.
