My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego | List of Best Posts
This blog is where I express myself to the world or at least to those who might stop by to read what I post . Maybe God will use what I post (I am a Christian and this blog will have a most decidedly Christian bent to it) to good effect in the lives of my readers.

I may turn some of my posts into a book. I may cease blogging here altogether. Who knows. But for now..I am content to post away in this, my own little corner of the world.

Rather than reading through my now lengthy list of posts you may wish to read what I consider to be my very best posts or you can just read the posts that deal with a single subject category that might interest you.

Please know that I am open to any input on any topic I write about. If you have something to say about anything you see written here please....feel free to speak up in the form of leaving a comment or sending me a PM (private message).

And if you are in San Diego and wish to meet the one and only Carlos (that's me )...drop me a private message. I always enjoy meeting one of my readers!

Thanks.

Carlos

A wonderful walk in the neighborhood!

Posted 09-12-2009 at 03:07 PM by carlos123

I just got home from having a wonderful walk in the neighborhood with my new landlord.

We both need to get out and get a bit more exercise. Especially me in that honestly sometimes I wonder if my leg muscles are going to eventually atrophy from lack of use. I sit around in front of the computer so much.

I felt much better after my walk (my back has not fully recovered yet from 8 months of sitting for long periods of time in a fifth wheel couch).

I had a chance to see the neighborhood close up. What a wonderful place the Lord has worked my way into being at.

There are some horses down the street that I can pet on my way to a great food store I found the other day at the bottom of the hill upon which we live.

And there is an area near by that is almost like a park in the wilderness with nice trails, cacti, and with the beauty of the "mountains" all around.

I will definitely be taking more walks in the area.

My landlord has been here for a long time and knows the area well so he was filling me in on this or that which was interesting.

What a blessing for me to have ended up here.

My landlord has been absolutely wonderful. Very gracious and easy to get along with.

Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure this is not all just some kind of dream.

My internet related business activities continue full steam and unless I am greatly mistaken...some of those activities have great promise to have me making significant income in the near future. I wish I could say what those activities are here but unfortunately it might be considered as spam so I can't say anything about them.

It's too early to tell mind you but I am hopeful that my internet activities will end up allowing me to make a great living entirely online.

I have learned how to stretch my food dollars even further than I did when I was in my trailer.

I buy 5 lb bags of potatoes at $1.25 each along with a bag or two of bread at $1.00 each and couple that with some oatmeal and perhaps a bit of fruit here and there.

Along with that there is the occasional church picnic and this past week alone I have been invited out to eat no less than twice on top of a delicious barbecue that my landlord invited me to.

I haven't figured out the actual cost involved but I think I can accurately say that I am surviving on something like $2 in food per day. Which is record for me.

Still...it's something I have to do until I start making more money over the internet...God willing.

When I do...watch out! I will be eating at places like the Soup Plantation, Hometown Buffet, and other such places every day!

From what I understand there are some beautiful places to live in China.

May the Lord grant you success at your work Haller.

Yeah...I live in an absolutely beautiful place Haller but you know something...when push comes to shove (that's an American saying that means something along the lines of when all is said and done and you get down to the real meat of the matter) it's all meaningless. Living in a beautiful place will not buy anyone happiness anymore than having lots of money.

Our happiness comes from within. In the attitudes we bring to the circumstances we find ourselves in.

My relationship to God enables me to have attitudes that lead to inner joy and happiness in the midst of trying circumstances OR in the midst of great circumstances. I can be unhappy in great circumstances or happy in poor one's.

It's not the circumstances that make the difference. Not really. At least not long term.

It's the inner state of my inner man. It's what is going on inside me that determines whether I am content or happy.

My circumstances have improved greatly Haller but my eyes are still on the Lord and on His purposes for my life.

I would rather be dirt poor and feeling content in His Presence and following His will for my life than live in the best place on Earth and not be in right relationship with Him.

I am blessed to have both a right relationship with Him and nice circumstances at present but apart from Him my circumstances mean absolutely nothing to me. Nothing.

I have been down and I have been depressed a plenty in my life. But, I am also learning that with Him I can go through anything that life throws at me and rise above the natural tendency to get depressed or downcast over circumstances that I may have little or no control over.

Don't get me wrong. Nice circumstances are great but by faith every day can be great. Even the bad circumstances in which we may find ourselves can lead us to a greater intimacy with Him who was ultimately crucified for our sins.

    God loves you Haller!
