Our Freedoms Still Ring............

Miss Liberty was standing by Americas shore. A picture of honor, of freedom, and more.
She stood over the Hudson, her torch
held so high.
The sky was bright blue, then in the blink of an eye.
The sounds of commotion came into her ear.
Whats the rumble?
Whats the noise?
Why the fire? Why the fear?
She suddenly spun her torch, with a mighty wave. " I stand for a country, and those that we save"
A tear ran down her stately eye, as another fast object flew the crayon blue sky........
She bent at her waist and her crown slightly fell.....
The templet she held seemed to crack from this hell.
Then she stood again straight as the sounds were to quell. Her honor bruised, but her faith made her swell.
Our honors not lost by those who would try. With a cruel plan, and evil.......they flew into our skies.
We light up the harbor and again we stand tall.
Miss liberty looks down on our future and more.
Our lives were so broken, but the things we stand for, can't be taken or tarnished, there forever... and more.
You can try to defeat us. You can bring hate on wings.
But our Liberty is standing, and Our freedoms still ring...........

Today is September 11.........
I guess I feel the horror of that day all to vividly.
I worry for us.........that we might forget........and it will happen again. The News always says its just a matter of "when"......We lost families, children, policemen, firemen...many heroes.
We have members, like Coartist, who had to deal with the results of this carnage. Bless him.........
We have to always, always remember.........and then watch, and listen.......be aware.
Today, is a beautiful sunny day, much like that day started out .
A loss so horrific for so many, that no words can help the pain.Posted 09-11-2008 at 06:21 AM by Summering -

It was a moment for me to be on a street corner next to ground zero this summer. I hope we never forget what it means to be an American and that we stay connected as Americans. Thanks again for the poem Summering.

I know how you feel Emeraldsky. I stood there too recently...I looked down, peeking under the gates and tarps. Just a hole, with lots of dust, dirt.......piles and then deep...Just the Tuesday before 9/11 I looked back at the towers, from the bus heading home, after the Lion King Musical.....I said to my husband " look at them, look how the windows are glowing so blue"..." we may not see them again for AWHILE".........I never saw them again. Only this empty space, open.....hallowed....
We have to always work at staying safe, and never forget..........Posted 10-29-2008 at 06:29 AM by Summering -
Gosh, I clicked on Blogs, just by chance.........and before me was Our Freedom Still Rings.....
I started reading and said, " Oh My", My Own ........
Sometimes I write something quick, at the spur of a moment. This was one of those.
All one has to do is stand by those remaining ashes, to be reminded that we can not forget.Posted 11-11-2008 at 03:55 PM by Summering
