I think we all like to be self sufficient to some degree. I discovered this week that I am far from it. We lost our power due to the remnants of hurricane Ike passing through. It was only about seventeen hours, but uggh!
It is a totally helpless feeling to not be able to shower, brew a pot of coffee, or recharge the cell phone. We couldn't even run the fan to drown out the sound of a barking dog up the road.
Needless to say, we are now looking into solar and generator options. Off the grid, anyone?
