HYPOTHYROIDISM...Without Competent Medical Treatment...Even thoughI have had Doctors....

Wow! I am so sorry to hear of your experience.
I was Hyperthyroid until this past April, I had to have a total thyroidectomy and now I will be hypothyroid for life.
A great book to read is "Living Well With Hypothyroidism- What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You..That You Need To Know" --by Mary J Shomon
My Endocrinologist recommended it to me.
How are you feeling now? And what do you mean by "thyroid crashes"?

Wake Forest, Gosh its a pretty nive place to live!

Tuesday January 5th, twenty-ten! 15.8 Degrees...and in 10 years it will be the real year twenty-twenty! abc can have a big year with their News Show twenty-twenty!

Still have to wait a bit for the old Zager and Evans hit song, "In the year 2525"

But another topic in this new year. A friend sent me some pictures of an old small PA town where he grew up and they were raising his local Church and his old small elementary school building. As I reflected on that progress I could not help but think how apropos this picture was.

Shown were two pillars of small town America in morales, values, and future potential leaders being destroyed. I don't know what they plan to put up in place of these two institutions. But reflecting back on the manpower that it took to build these structures, one can only imagine they were built by believers who had little in material goods but were rich in faith and yearning for knowledge and now just sit in a pile of rubble.

They say a picture is worth 1000 words....the picture of the wrecking ball smashing the steeple of the church is worth just one....'sad'. The steeple that had the bells that called the faithful of yesterday to come and take an hour from their busy, hectic, workweek to worship is now gone forever.

I feel fortunate that I have this opportunity to see some of these North Eastern small towns and their architectural make up before they are gone forever. To witness old turn of the century Churches that are now worthless to these small communities and being torn down. These old Churches would be priceless to the faithful in towns like Wake Forest.

Quote of the day from Franklin D Roosevelt:

"The test of our progress is not whether we add to the
abundance of those who have much. It is whether we
provide enough to those who have little."

    Happy Tuesday!

How to Twitter Your Way Into Being Burglarized

Good points Mike. I have thus far not entered into the world of twitter, but have been considering it as of late. I can't quite figure out what the benefit is or how this media can be used to my benefit. Never thought of what the pitfalls could be until finding this blog post.

BTW, I came across your post doing a google search about twitter. Who gives the best exposure? Twitter or city-data? hmmmmm

Wake Forest, Gosh its a pretty nive place to live!

Sunday January 3,2009. My temp in upstate NY as per weather bug is 'undefined'......YIKES! But the winds have stopped so it is warmer tonight than last night. Before it went to undefined it was 9.0 degrees so I at least got that going for me!

I did manage to watch the NC State game against Florida today and what in the long shots was that at the end? Oh sweet 3/4 court shots that went up and than in....nothing but net! Oh my!

That leads me to my quote of the day from Yogi:
"It ain't over till its over"

    ...and that does include overtime!

Wake Forest, Gosh its a pretty nive place to live!

Saturday January 2, 2010 and the current temp is 8.6 degrees and heading lower. Brrrrr. With 12 mph wind the wind chill is -7 degrees. You know when the wind chill goes below zero two ways. 1. If you have a dog and they need to go out so they go by the door and you open it and they gaze back up at you with the Austin Powers look when he says 'right'... or 2. the air has the bite in it that immediately chills you to the bone.

Either one pretty much sums up the cold! ...and January has only just begun.

Day 2 of the new year is almost over. Hopefully your resolutions are still in tact. Mine are so far....and sometimes yet so close. I have the pretty standard ones as resolutions go, eat better, exercise more and be a kinder, gentler, and smarter me!

Quote of the day from James Madison:

"It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood. "

Based on the above quote try to read the TARP and Health Care Overhaul bills on line........Mr. Madison the father of the Constitution had a prophetic wisdom about himself.

    Happy New Year Day +2!

My 5 year old daughter mauled and attack by a akita!

i am an akita lover myself, but i have to say: that akita's owner is a JACKASS. as much as i adore akitas, that dog needs to be put down. the worst part is: all of this could have been prevented. akitas make excellent guard dogs, and they can make great family pets, though they prefer to be around older children and adults. in spite of their preference, they do not usually go around brutalizing children. with proper training, they can become very tolerant of young children. this owner was careless and inconsiderate; she obviously didnt put this dog under proper training and/or obedience classes, and definitely didnt socialize this dog well enough. now an innocent child as well as the dog itself have to pay the consequences. if this is not the first time this has occured, at the very least, this woman should have known better than to let a little girl near her animal. this little girl will carry memories of this traumatic experience for the rest of her life. i hope with time she will learn how to cope with it, and hopefully, move on. things like this should never happen, and i hope the kid's doing alright.

That's the story of a lot of people's lives, GCST. The old phrase, "Just one more...." keeps creeping in and knocking at our doors, regardless of the temptation. Good blog.

    Ramblings

Do you ever listen to NPR? I was in the car sometime last mo, listening to NPR, and this very subject was the topic. The guest was poet, author, and farmer Wendel Barry(check sp) and he was stressing the importance of buying local food and supporting local small farming. I completely agree with his stance against large commercial farming. I boycott companies like Walmart, but until the average American wakes up and realizes the damage being wrought to our land, I fear things won't change. We need to be willing to pay more to receive quality food. Wendel B. has written a book on this and his last book of poetry, "Leavings", is heavily influenced by his love and respect of the land. You should check it out if you are interested. I'm looking forward to my move up North because I do want to get back to Nature, even if it sounds cliche' or trite, I am sincere. If the job prospects were better I would definetly be moving to NH or VT but I fear the economic situation will be too much. This greatly saddens me as I have always wanted(for yrs) to move to New England and my biggest regret is that I didn't move ten yrs ago when I did have the opportunity. I learned a valuable lesson though, it's important to be realistic but you should never allow fear to keep you from following your dreams! Take care and happy New Year, - lil red -
