of toolboxes and cabbages

It is a point of constant humor that must have some basis in reality... the scenario of sending the spouse to the store for a cabbage and they come back with a tomato, chips, a ham, beer and, if you are lucky, the cabbage??
Well that was me this evening.
However even more humorous was my trip to the lumberyard earlier on. You know the one... I needed a piece of plywood from which to cut a 1 foot circle to fill an order for a hex sign.
Since I am out of "hex blanks" I had decided to buy extra wood, sufficient to make additional blanks in both the one and two foot sizes. I ended up having to get two quarter sheets of plywood as they were not selling half sheets, but that was good as I can make the smaller ones out of a thinner stock. However, could I leave it at that? No... I also came back with a 12" drill press (I haven't had one, ever and it will make replicating the parts the we need to make to repair the loom so much easier and more exact) and two tool boxes. Yeah, too.
And it was high time, as my old, small and admittedly wimpy and cheap box had been bought over 15 yrs ago when I was shopping for a similar box -- and tools to fill it -- for a daughter who had just moved out on her own. Last month the plastic part that the latch secured on, broke on one side. Now, I managed to get it to hold together but each time I picked up the admittedly WAY too full box, it was anyone's guess if it would spill all its contents or not. 15 yrs on a plastic tool box from WalMart is not bad, but as my tool stash continued to grow and the box did not, well it is, I think time for a new one.
Here are the old tool box and my box of "random assorted, mostly used hardware" in front of the new boxes

And here are the new boxes, filled and ready to go. There are still a few hammers scattered about and some other larger hand tools too... but this will likely hold most of them.
You can be proud of me too... though I have a darned good selection of previously used (rusty and not rusty) nails and screws, I have finally stopped keeping the REALLY bent nails. Even one in the box is now a good candidate for being re-used with no attempt at straightening needed.
