Welcome To Case's Column
Since this will be my first venture into the mysterious world of blogging, let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings "Case's Column". I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, I'll set aside a place here for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Here you are. My very first blog page. Come on in and share in the experience. I'm interested in seeing where this is all going. And thanks in advance for dropping by!
Regards,
case44

On Vacation Again: My Latest Road Trip Update
Well, gang, here I am in beautiful Houston, Texas, and in the middle of yet another road trip. This time, it's a road trip with vacation written all over it. I'm doing a Texas triangle of sorts, case44-style.
Right now, I am staying three nights here in H-town after spending Monday night in Austin.
Earlier today (Tuesday, October 20), I took some time to stop in Brenham, Texas, at the Blue Bell Creamery. I had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the processing plant, so I took full advantage. And, yes, when all was said and done, I had a second sample in a cup afterwards (vanilla/chocolate chip, which they somehow don't sell in Dallas). Second sample?? Uh, yeah. And don't tell anyone, but before the tour, I spent one dollar to get a sample of same (Ssshhh! Not so loud...).
For the balance of the trip, I'll be taking a look at two of Houston's renowned museums, taking a brief excursion in Galveston, and visiting the Bush Presidential Library in College Station. There will be good food and good fun as I continue with my R&R. We've had good weather (sunshine) up to this point, but rain is expected to move in sometime tomorrow (Wednesday, the 21st). Hopefully, this journey won't be a total wash.
In the meantime, you folks still sitting at home can just have some chocolate cake and stare at a picture of the ocean.
Have a good week and I'll talk to y'all when I get home.
