You Called Me A Friend

When you, a total stranger,. called me your friend, it brought tears to my eyes. It it uplifted my weary soul as much as if you were by my side. It gave me the courage to carry on the fight to the finish knowing in the end I ride a tiger I am afraid to stay on, but I cannot get off. For if what the ancients say is true our destiny was written long ago before either of us was a seed in our mother's belly.
Dying is a cruel trick to play on a vibrant, full of life.soul.
In one way I envy three-of my sister-in-laws. Their husbands died within 90 days of being diagnosed with incurable cancer. Tney didn't have time to prepare for the end, but they have children to help them. It's a blessomg in disguise for one is in a wheel chair, one is on a ventilator and unresponsive, and the third works and helps care for snother sister in law who is mostly blind. Of the remaining sister-i-l-;laws, one has cancer and the other has MS. Of the two remaining brother-in-laws, one is too old to care for his wife; they are in an assited living facility. The other cares for his wife who is undergoing chemotherapy.
That leaves us. Collectively we have a failed quad bypass, DVT, CHF, Atrialfibrilation, high cholesterol, IFP. COPD, Macular Degeneration, cataracts, three incurable skin diseases plus funfus, conact dermatitis, bois, sties, hives, MRSA, Staph infections, serious allergies to the act if daily living, and a thyroid problem that probably has more to do with anti-bodies attacking it, than it does to a vague life-threatening something or other. .
I look at this list of genetic failures and I ponder which came first the chicken or the egg?

You have another friend in June who is also listening. And, like Blue62, we have big hearts by which we hear...
Take gentle care.Posted 08-03-2008 at 08:28 AM by june 7th
