Casinos in Ohio

Posted 10-25-2008 at 11:29 AM by mjp25

Good Lord, casinos in Ohio. The end of the world! NOT! If the officials that run the state would do it right then casinos can improve the state where needed. My plan is to allow casinos in Ohio in the most economically deprived areas like North East Ohio, North West Ohio, and South East Ohio. The plan would have interested casino owners place a 2 million non refundable bid to the state with a detail plan of the business, building, and how the casino would help Ohio. Previsions would include jobs go to only Ohio residents that have been living in Ohio for atleast 2 years with the exception of 5% of the work force that will be moving here to oversee and train workers. Hotels and corporate restaraunt will also have to place nonrefundable deposited bids for building around the casinos.
Place a 55% profit tax on the casinos that would be distributed out to all counties in Ohio. This money will be used to reduce property tax.
Think about how many jobs will be generated and the revinue raised. This would mean more police to patrol, more business to open, and more factories to come back to Ohio. Why didnt Columbus think of this? Maybe because they have been so deep into one companies pockets they cant think about what is right for Ohio.

I'm curious...what rate of taxes do casinos pay to Michigan or Indiana? Is 55% about the same? Does anyone really know? And, what will be done with the non refundable bid money?

I've lived in Michigan...visited casinos in the Upper Penisula run by Native American Tribes and the mega showcase casinos in Detroit that were to bring in big bucks, hotels, conventions ect....too bad you still have to go through an economically devasted no man's land to get to these. Please explain the good they've done there.
