Just to see you smile

I am a bit older now, nearly 39, and while I am getting used to my life, it still seems like a bit of a fairy tale.
As I look across the room I see his chair. It is empty but just the thought of him being there and smiling at me makes me happy.
The months have gone by and I think we have gotten into a routine. It's almost like we are a married couple, and every day is the same. We do laugh and joke and play together. We spend a lot of time with one another and are just plain happy.
I lay in the bed this morning feeling half awake and half asleep and I drift back off. He has already awakened and is getting ready for work. I feel his lips on my skin and I smile, my eyes still closed. He giggles a bit and moves up and kisses my lips and tells me good morning. I smile and say it back...
I have half come out of my clothes in my sleep and decide to just give it up, walking through the house half naked. He is getting ready to leave the house now as we walk up to one another, his hands running down my body as I begin to wrap my arms around him for that goodbye kiss.
He called me a couple of hours ago to check in on me and make sure I was doing ok.
I don't think I have been happier in my life. I do know that no man has ever made me as happy. We are always in the debate of who loves the other more.... I think I love him more but he tells me that is not possible.....because he loves me way more.
I have not had this debate with any other man in my life until now. It was such a long and twisting road to get to this place. I nearly fell off the edge, it seems, a few times. But I did make it. I made it and I am enjoying every minute of it.
It is just he and I, as my kids are grown, and we are enjoying our lives.....
